Edison Crash Investigation Shifts to Possibility of Suicide

Three people were killed in a crash early Tuesday morning on Route 27 in Edison.

Police are classifying Tuesday's fatal accident in Edison involving a 15-year-old boy as a suicide-homicide.

On Wednesday night, the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office released an update on the case, stating that the specific cause is still under investigation, but information gathered by the Edison Police Department and Prosecutor's Office have caused the case to be classified as a suicide-homicide.

Police responded at 12:32 a.m. Tuesday to find that a 1995 Honda Civic driven by the teen had veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a 2011 Nissan Altima driven by Mohammad Zia, 46, with passenger Ali Behzad, 35, both of Edison.

All three people were killed in the crash, with the teen and Behzad pronounced dead at at the scene, and Zia pronounced dead shortly after at 1:16 a.m. at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

According to a report on NJ.com, unidentified "law enforcement officials" disclosed that the teen was found with a suicide note on his person.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office has declined to release the teen's name, but according to the NJ.com report, the boy's name was Srijan Saha, a student at John P. Stevens High School in Edison.
