The Dog n' Pony Show, Part 2, A 3 Ring Circus, McCormac Style

Those that caught my October 28 and November 3, 2013 blog posts, know about Ordinance "E" (First Reading), which became Ordinance "A" at last night's town council meeting.  For those that didn't see the prior postings or don't know about the new Ordinance, John McCormac's town council obediently passed it last night. It was no surprise the council just told McCormac to go ahead with $9,890,000.00 in new Bond debt, which will cover various recreation and public improvements at schools throughout the Woodbridge School District.

Last night's council meeting was attended by everyone from Board of Education members to the new Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Robert Zega, who had several of his school principals in attendance for commentary.  One principal even brought two young female students to say how they liked their existing elementary school playground  They were all cheering for these long overdue improvements to the schools' sports and other activity areas. The only thing missing was the John E. Mac student chorus.  Of course anyone not in agreement with the 'need it now, pay for it later approach', like me for one, was labeled a naysayer! (Funny how they try to make naysayers feel like the kid in Hans Christian Andersen's story who said he could not see the emperor's new clothes!)

Of course the mayor spoke about how easy it will be to pay off the Bond debt with the tax revenues from the new power plant that is going to be built in Keasbey.  Of course that facility has yet to be constructed, has some legal issues in federal court and, like any project of its size, could see construction and start-up delays.  But this is the Land of MacBelieve, so what matter the risks, the show must go on!

Now add in the fact the $9.89 Million in anticipated improvements is based on estimates!  Oh, by the way, the township didn't do the estimating, the school district reportedly did.  A copy of those estimates has been requested from both the school district and the McCormac administration, just for the record.

Everyone reading this blog is encouraged to watch last night's town council meeting on TV35, when it airs, or to call it up on the township's website.  Listen to what was said and who said it.  Listen carefully, then ask yourself: Is this something we want or is it a need, do we need it immediately and, perhaps most importantly, with the hundred of millions of dollars the school district has collect through your property tax payments, just in the past 5 to 6 years, how and why were  our school district's athletic facilities allowed deteriorate so badly!

And since this is the Land of MacBelieve, and not the Land of Oz, please do pay  attention to the man behind the current; he's sure to have more leavers and strings to pull!
