Candidates' Night, Oh What a Night!

The Presidents' Council of Woodbridge held its annual Candidates' Night last night.
In all, which includes four (4) of the five (5) candidates (one was a no show) there may have been 20 people at the screening. Why such a low audience turnout?  Perhaps, it was due to the Columbus Day holiday, people didn't know about the event, or they just didn't care.  In any event, I was there, albeit I did not remain on the stage very long.  I had much to say, but very little time in which to say it.  I tried to fit it all in within my two (2) minute time allotment, but I couldn't do.  Had I had another minute, I probably could have.  But the time keeper wouldn't allow me that extra moment or two. That was strike three!  I said what else I could and left the playing field (the stage).  I took a seat in the audience and remained to hear the rest of the screening.

What were the other two strikes?  The first was the less than warm reception I received from the Council members when I arrived at the school auditorium.  The second was the seating order for the candidates. Instead of the candidates being seated in alphabetical order, according to their last name, Mr. Golden was afforded center stage, with Messrs. Small and Triebwasser (in that order) on his left. I sat on Mr. Golden's immediate right and the absent  candidate was assigned a seat to my right.  Perhaps, with that seating order, the event organizers wanted to be keep the "Team" of incumbents together, and not mixed between the non-incumbents?

Based on prior experience as both a candidate and as an observer to other Candidates' Night screening,  I cannot not say I find them to be either apolitical or unbiased.  Last night's screen did nothing to change my opinion on that issue.

It was not easy for me to walk off the stage, knowing full well how it would be played by others.  If fact, the negative commentaries started early this morning in other posting.  Nevertheless, I make no apologies for my actions.

For those that might have liked to hear all I had to say, I prepared my talking points in a format I could later share. Those points are attached as a pdf.

Less there be any suggestion that the talking points were written after last night's event, please note a 'rough draft' (not for publication) was given to a well respected member of the press, before I left the school auditorium.  What I share here is, in essences, the same as the draft, less ( I hope) my renowned grammatical and spelling/typo errors.

Please keep in mind the same "TEAM" that sat on the Board of Education during the past three years wants another three years on the board.  If you like what has happen in our school system and to your taxes, return them to power.  If not, there are two other choices.
