What Kind of Republicans Beat Up Other Republicans?

It appears Don Nelsen is back. But who is Don Nelsen?

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the name, Nelsen is the putative chairman of the Woodbridge Township Republican Conservative Organization (WTRCO), a group that positions itself as a competitor to the official Republican organization, the WTRO.

It's hard to know what the WTRCO's main purpose is, except in possibly trying to destroy the Republican party in Woodbridge with a divide and conquer mentality. Nelsen and group members are quick to label anyone who holds any disagreement with them as RINOs - meaning they are "Republican in Name Only," which is probably the worst label one can throw on a Republican.

But who is the WTRCO? Nelsen runs the group's website. They often stray far outside Woodbridge politics. For instance, the website for months had a picture of President Barack Obama up, along with a host of insults that focused on their belief that the president was not an American citizen, but born in Kenya. 

Nelsen has branched out. He now has a featured blog on another news website, but so far, Nelsen has not expounded there on his firm belief that President Obama is not an American. Maybe that's for a future blog post.

The crux of the WTRCO's beef against the regular Republican organization is that WTRCO members ran for offices inside the party organization and lost, fair and square. But rather than act like adults and accept the results of elections, they instead vent their frustrations out on a website that resorts to name calling and crazy rumors. You'd have thought that most people would have left that sort of thing behind in third grade.

The WTRCO tries to say they are the voice of "real Republicans," yet oddly enough, they never seem to say much about the Democratic mayor or the Democratic council. They vent all their ire on Republican Chairman John Vtrarik or Bob Luban, the only Republican sitting on the council.

What kind of a group claiming to be the "real Republicans" only attacks other Republicans and never any Democrats? One would think, reading Nelsen's screeds on his website, that they consider their only real foes to be elected Republicans and not Democrats, nor the policies of Democrats who have brought Woodbridge's economy to a screeching halt and raised taxes through the roof.

The WTRCO's antics are exactly what we need to ensure that Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac has another term in office. McCormac has often said he is going to be "mayor for life" in Woodbridge.

And with the WTRCO's help, that's exactly what it seems they would like to see happen.
