Another Heat Wave Predicted for Today

Keep the AC turned up!

The area had a reprieve from the heat wave of the past few weeks - but don't turn the air conditioning off quite yet.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning that the extreme heat will be back today, starting around 1 pm this afternoon and continuing through this evening.

They are predicting a heat index of around 100 degrees this afternoon, with a possibility that the extreme temps may carry over into Wednesday.

They are warning that young children, the infirm, and the elderly - all of whom can be particularly susceptible to heat exhaustion - should take precautions today and stay in a cool environment.Β

Outdoor activities requiring exertion should be done in the early morning or early evening hours, while avoiding the hottest afternoon parts of the day. Pet owners are also reminded to keep their animals inside if at all possible, and to make sure they have access to plenty of fresh, clean water.
