Sam Pero Scores Five Touchdowns in Colonia Win

Colonia meets Woodbridge on Friday night.

Sam Pero scored the first four touchdowns and five overall as the Colonia High School football team defeated Perth Amboy, 40-6, according to nj.com.

Pero scored on runs of 19, 40 and 16 yards, and caught two passes, of 20 and 29 yards, from Tenni Adewusi for a score.

Adewusi also threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Pharoah Napoleon. Matt Mizak rounded out the scoring with an 11-yard run.

Colonia improved to 3-1.

Meanwhile, Woodbridge took a 14-7 lead in the first half, but dropped a 40-21 decision to Carteret.

Woodbridge fell to 2-2. Woodbridge visits Colonia on Friday night, 7 p.m.

Girls' soccer

Old Bridge 2, Woodbridge 1: Woodbridge took Old Bridge into overtime before eventually dropping the decision, according to nj.com Hadiza Mamman scored Woodbridge’s only goal.

Goalie Maura Walsh kept Woodbridge in the game by making 21 saves in the loss.
