Rutgers Hosts Video Tournament for Eric LeGrand
A tournament to benefit the injured Rutgers football player is being held Sept. 18.
The outpouring of support for Rutgers paralyzed defensive tackle Eric LeGrand has been unprecedented.
That assistance has now been taken to the virtual gridiron, as KOTC Tournaments will host the LeGrand Bowl 2011 A Video Game Fundraiser Extravaganza on Sept. 18 at the Rutgers University Busch Campus Center. Registration begins at 10 am.
KOTC is a gaming league sponsored by GameStop and run by Rod Lane. While Lane’s league has done national championships for Halo, Call of Duty and Madden, they host a charitable event or two each year.
In the past, it’s been for a school or a children’s hospital. This year, however, was a no-brainer, Lane said. As a former high school and college football player and high school coach, supporting LeGrand seemed obvious for Lane.
”It’s something that I do, it’s something that I love—the game of football—and we’re dealing with a person that absolutely is off the charts as far as positive energy and a role model to most people by the way he handles adversity,” Lane said.
Participants will be facing off in NCAA ’12 and Madden ’12.
