Security Cameras Approved for Woodbridge Elementary Schools

In order to improve security, 13 closed circuit cameras will be installed.

The Board of Education approved the purchase of 13 security cameras for elementary schools in the township at a previous board meeting.

The cameras will be outdoor low light, closed-circuit cameras from Minton’s Fire & Security Specialists in Union. The cost of the cameras is not to exceed $35,550.

Each camera will record footage for a 30-day period, according to Security Coordinator Thomas Terpanick. He added that the cameras would focus on outside of the school and the lobby area.

Cameras will also be able to tap onto Internet activity that occurs inside the school, Terpanick said.

As of July 18, camera installation had beenΒ completed at the following schools: School Nos. 19, 24, 14, 25, 27, 9, 23 and 1. All elementary schools will receive cameras by the end of the summer, according to Terpanick.
