POLL: Complain Without Getting Sued?

The owner of puppy that died of parvovirus is being hauled into court by the pet store owner she's complaining about. Should that be OK?

Doreen Longo, the owner of a German Shepherd puppy that died less than two weeks after she bought it, has been vehement about accusing the pet store owner of selling sick animals. Rocco Garruto, the owner of the Avenel store, Fancy Pups, pleaded guilty in court in February to two counts of fraud in other pet purchase cases.

Now he's trying to get a restraining order against Longo to get her to shut up because her complaints have killed his puppy business, he said.

Do you think a customer has the right to complain on the Internet about a business she finds unsatisfactory? Is enough enough? Or is it not enough if the customer is trying to warn other shoppers about a bad experience?

Take the poll and post your thoughts!

This man is a MONSTER. He has done anything and everything to try to trump our laws. Laws of a country is in ILLEGALLY. I wish this miserable man SEVENFOLD of what he's "brought" upon all these puppy owners and their families. BUYER BEWARE.

Dumbass rocco would have to take an awful lot of people who have voiced their opinions in this & other forums to court to shut them up & true "animal people" ARE NOT going to keep quiet about what we believe in. I stand behind Doreen 100% for standing up for the truth & putting this piece of garbage out of business for good. Keep up battle, don't give up the truth will come out.

Most reputable businesses do whatever they can to make a situation right. This guy is showing his true colors to everyone by trying to silence this woman. She didn't bury his business, he did it himself. Slander is one thing, speaking the truth is another. If he doesn't like freedom of speech maybe he should get out of our country.

WOW, Rocco's lawyers took a severe beat-down today by the judge. Like they say "never send a child in to do a man's work". NICE!!!!

CAN'T MAKE THIS CRAP UP!!!! Woodbridge PD incident report 12040808 ....... Why would Rocco's employee quit her job, call police to say there were sick dogs in his store Rocco was refusing to treat, then run outside joining the picketers to carry a sign saying "FANCY PUPS? MORE LIKE DEAD PUPS"

Aside from complaints reportedly made against Fancy Pups by individual customers and, now, perhaps by a former employee, public records show the Woodbridge Health Department has issued citation and unsatisfactory inspection reports for violations at this facility. The records also show the store has been allowed to continue operations on expired licenses on different occasions. If there was a habitual problem with this facility, why did the Health Department renew their licenses. Had the Health Department acted in a more aggressive manner with this facility, might a lot of pain and suffering have been avoided? Did the Health Department abrogate their responsibility to animal lovers and the Courts?

@Tom Maras Many many towns in NJ have their counties do these types of inspections. Woodbridge is one of the few. Obviously Woodbridge should not be able to allow doing these types of inspections since they fail the public. Keep in mind the Woodbridge Health department also inspects food establishments. Do they err there too? Food for thought!!!

OK people here it comes. First off Mr. Rocco tried to make good with Doreen Longo. He offered to pay here back for the vet bills and the price of the dog. So what went wrong I will tell you Doreen Longo wanted money for food and toys that she bought for the puppy, thats why this is where it is. Second one of the employees did not run out and picket. where is this lie coming from. You all really need to stop the bull crap and start looking at both sides. I cant wait for this to be over because when it is and the truth comes out you will all be amazed at what Mr. Rocco has to say then. And where did you see Roccos laywers take a beat down? where yo in the same court room as I? It looked to me that her old laywer took a beat down because of his wrong doing. WOW he may even loose his licence

Wow, you, as a “Happy Customer”, took time off to go to court on this matter. What type of Happy Customer are you; related, invested or paid? The lawyers and courts will sort out the legal issues. The focus in this matter must stay on keeping animals safe and health, and ensuring any and all bad breeders, dealers, groomers and boarders are put out of business. Here again, if the Woodbridge Township Board of Health was enforcing rules, with vigor, this whole matter may have never happened. Tell the Town Council to pass some Ordinance that will ensure bad shops are severely penalized and, if necessary, shut down!
