Patrons Benefit from NJ Transit's Early Getaway Service

The state's public transport service is starting the 4th of July holiday early.

To benefit Woodbridge commuters and vacationers looking for an early holiday weekend getaway, NJ Transit is operating extra trains on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast lines starting at approximately 1 pm on Friday. Extra buses will also be dispatched to serve the area.
On Monday, the 4th of July, all trains will be operating on a weekend/major holiday schedule. NJ Transit is also offering special beach and shore packages for those looking for stress-free travel to points south:

  • Beach Packages:  Riders can save up to $6.50 on admission to one of five beaches— Long Branch, Asbury Park, Ocean Grove, Bradley Beach and Belmar—by purchasing a round-trip train fare and a beach pass for one price at NJ Transit ticket vending machines or at ticket windows.
  • Shorelink Shuttle to the Beach:  Starting Friday, Monmouth County will offer shuttle service with a $1 fare from NJ Transit's Asbury Park, Bradley Beach, and Belmar train stations to beach and downtown shopping and dining areas in Asbury Park, Ocean Grove, Bradley Beach, and Belmar.  The shuttles will run from July 1 through September 30, every 30 minutes from 9 am to 6 pm Monday through Thursday and to 9 pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.For more info, go to visitmonmouth.com or call 732-462-3333.
  • Monmouth Park:  Patrons who ride a train anywhere on NJ Transit's rail system can save $6 when they travel to Monmouth Park Racetrack.  Simply purchase a round-trip package to Monmouth Park from a NJ Transit ticket vending machine or at ticket window, and receive Grandstand Admission and an official track program for $1 plus round-trip train fare. 
  • On summer weekends, kids ride free. Every weekend, two children 11 and younger can travel free with each fare-paying adult.  For the Independence Day holiday weekend, the program will be in effect from 7 pm, Friday, July 1 until 6 am, Tuesday, July 5.
