November 2011 published in Home News Tribune: McCormac stated: “Struben’s plan doesn’t add up because he’s looking to hire people to save money.” McCormac said “Struben is attacking a department that doesn’t need fixing.” and “There’s no problem with the delivery of fire service in Woodbridge Township,” McCormac said Struben’s plan will cost money. “You can’t add people to the budget and expect to save money,” said McCormac, a former state treasurer. McCormac said “Woodbridge has a great fire delivery program, consisting of paid firefighters and volunteers.” “People are satisfied,” McCormac said. “Fathers, sons and generations grow up as firefighters in Woodbridge.” Additionally, McCormac said, “the fire districts are legally separate from township government. The mayor’s office has no authority to hire firefighters.” He said “a referendum would be needed to make any changes to that arrangement.” “Chris Struben as Mayor could not accomplish what Chris Struben the Candidate is saying without spending a lot of taxpayer money through a referendum,” McCormac said. “He (Struben) wants to run the School Board and firehouses, and that’s not the type of system we need.”
