Two Arrests Made After More Thefts Reported at Woodbridge Community Center

Police found stolen items and drugs in a car outside of the Woodbridge Community Center last week.

Two men were arrested recently following 10 reported thefts of wallets, cash, credit cards and cell phones at the Woodbridge Community Center.

Nicholas R. Smith, 25, of Port Reading and Scott B. Flowers, Jr., 22, of Metuchen were arrested at 12:20 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Woodbridge Community Center after police searched their car and found various credit cards and cell phones inside it, according to a press release from the Woodbridge Police Department.

Cocaine, heroin and "narcotic paraphernalia" were also found in the car, according to the release.

Smith fled when approached by police, but was quickly caught, according to the release.

Smith was charged with obstruction, resisting arrest and two counts of theft, according to the release. He was taken to the Middlesex County Jail in North Brunswick with bail set at $5,000 with no 10 percent option.

Flowers was charged with obstruction and two counts of theft. He was released on his own recognizance, according to the release.

Police expect additional charges related to the drugs, and as they search for the owners of the stolen items, according to the release. 

Earlier this month, another man was arrested for stealing personal items from gym bags and coat pockets at the Woodbridge Community Center.
