Traffic Will be Diverted This Morning for Chief Turcotte Funeral

Woodbridge officials are saying that traffic in the New Brunswick and Woodbridge Avenue areas of Fords will be dicey with an enormous funeral turnout expected.

The procession of fellow firefighters and other public servants this morning for the will entail road closings and detours.

Commuters in the area should be alert for these changes:

  • Bagpipers, a horse drawn caisson, and troops of firefighters from Woodbridge and as far away as New York, will be escorting Chief Turcotte's body from the Mitruska Funeral Home on New Brunswick Avenue, to Our Lady of Peace Church on Maple Avenue at the Fords/Edison border.
  • The procession will go down New Brunswick Avenue, cross King Georges Road, and turn onto Ford Ave. before arriving at the church for a 10 am mass.
  • After the funeral service and a ceremony, the procession will continue for interment at the Clover Leaf Memorial Park at the intersection of Route 35 and Route 1 in Woodbridge. The burial service will be private.

in the Menlo Park section of the township.
