OBITUARY: Robert Mauro, 72, of Fords

A Fords resident, Mauro served as a19th District Assembly candidate and former Perth Amboy Republican Party chairman.


Robert Mauro, 72, of the Fords of , died Friday, Feb. 24, at JFK Medical Center in Edison. 

Born in Perth Amboy, Mauro lived in Fords for the past 15 years. 

He served as the former Republican Chairman in Perth Amboy and ran as a 19th District Assembly candidate. Mauro was also a member of the NJ Conservative GOP in recent years.

Employed by Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy for 45 years as a cafeteria chef, Mauro retired in 2000. 

He was a member of the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Hopelawn.  Mauro was an avid salmon and trout fisherman, an expert Fly Tier, a member of the Trout Unlimited and Fly Fisherman's Federation, and he traveled around the world for fishing Atlantic Salmon.

He was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Millie (nee Mauro) Mauri. He is survived by his two cousins, George Yeager and Sandra Dennis, and dear friend Bruce Mohr.
