NJ Transit Trains to New York Are Running With Delays

A transformer fire in New Brunswick disrupted service between Trenton and New York, including shore lines through Woodbridge.

Rail service along the northeast corridor line was down for almost two hours early this morning because of a transformer fire in New Brunswick, NJ Transit officials said. The fire cause a loss of overhead power throughout the line, causing train authorities to suspend service.

Service through Woodbridge was restored at 6:45 am, officials said, but there are 10 to 15 minute delays along the rail line. Despite the power crash in New Brunswick, limited diesel service continued to operate on the North Jersey Coast Line, the shore service that runs between Woodbridge and Bay Head.

NJ Transit was accepting train passes on their bus lines as a transportation alternative to the downed train service.
