High Wind Advisory in Effect for Tonight

The National Weather Service warns of high winds.

The central New Jersey area is being warned about high winds through tonight, according to the National Weather Service. The advisory expires at 9 pm as of this writing.

Westerly winds are forecast to go from 20 to 30 mph, with gusts of up to 50 mph. That can cause isolated power outages as the winds knock down trees, taking power lines with them.Β

Drivers of high profile vehicles are also warned to be careful on the road, especially on bridges and elevated roadways. Homeowners should take in or secure lightweight objects around their houses.
