The mobile FEMA office can help Woodbridge homeowners who suffered flooding and damages in the recent hurricane file a claim for help if their homeowner's insurance isn't covering their losses.

A variety of FEMA benefits are available in areas declared to be federal disaster areas. Benefits include both grants and low-interest loans to help homeowners get back on their feet.

In municipalities surrounding Woodbridge, such as Rahway, Carteret, and Perth Amboy officials declared states of emergency, when the hurricane hit. Woodbridge officials have insisted the township didn't suffer significant damage, but there were widespread incidents of flooding and damage from falling trees and heavy limbs beyond the areas of the township that usually experience water damage in storms.

That's because parts of Woodbridge were blacked out for days when electrical power failed. While PSE&G struggled to get power back to township residents, homeowners who rely on sump pumps to keep their basements dry were inundated with flooding when the electricity went out.

Homeowners who can't make the mobile unit service on Friday can call Lance's officeΒ at 908-518-7733Β for help, or visit the FEMA website directly.
