Pet Food Bank Desperately Needs Donations

The pet food bank helps to keep pets with their owners in a home and out of area shelters

The pet food bank helps to keep pets with their owners in a home and out of area shelters. Marge Petrow, with the assistance of the Woodbridge Animal Shelter Volunteers, runs the pet food bank.

The pet food bank is currently just about empty and donations of canned and dry dog food, canned and dry cat food and cat litter are desperately needed.    For those that wish to donate, call Marge at 732-636-4680 between the hours of 4 PM to 8 PM and arrangements can be made to either drop off your donation or for the donation to be picked up, if possible.

The food bank operates solely on the generosity of the community through donations and it is critical that the community help us out.  Every day the volunteers deal with animals that have been surrendered to the shelter because their guardians can no longer afford to feed them.  It is absolutely heartbreaking to see the owners who have no other choice and the animals that don’t understand what is happening to them.  Members of our community can help and we are hoping that those that can afford to help will step up and make a donation.

For people that need assistance, all they need to do is call Marge and request help.  All calls are kept confidential.  Marge emphasizes that no one that needs help should feel embarrassed or ashamed.  We all need help once in a while and all the volunteers have the greatest respect for those that are doing everything they can to properly care for their furry family members.  In extreme circumstances where an owner is unable to travel to pick up food or cat litter, every attempt will be made to deliver it directly to that person.

However, in order to continue to help those that need it, donations are critical to keep the pet food bank operational.  We are once again asking for the community to help their neighbors by making a donation to the pet food bank.
