Rita's Kicks Off Its Free Summer Movie Nights

With a family friendly venue and delicious ice cream varieties, Rita's Italian Ice kicked off its summer movie nights.

This summer season there are fun events throughout the township, whether it's a concert, a fair, or a fundraising event - there is something for everyone to enjoy this season.

"We usually do fundraisers but it's August and we wanted to do something more geared for the family, just a fun event for the whole community," said Beth Evans, store manager at Rita's, about her inspiration behind the idea of 'Movie Night.'

A family friendly venue and proximity to the center of town are some of the best reasons to catch a summer movie at Rita's. "It's fun, it's free, and it's local so you don't have to go far," explained Evans.

Evans and her staff have opted to showing the newest family geared movies of the summer. "I like Rango myself, I watched it 5 times this week with my nephew," she laughed about the first flick in the series.

Tonight's movie will be 'Toy Story 3.'

Justin Pacciano, a sixth grade student has already seen Rango once but was excited to see it again. "My sister wanted to see it because she hasn't seen it yet," he said. "He's excited for his sister and he wanted Rita's ice cream," laughed Mrs. Pacciano who sat alongside her son.

One of the biggest compliments to a fun, family movie is delicious ice cream. Jeanette Adase brought her children to see the movie since they haven't gotten a chance to see it. "It's a fun, free, family night," said Adase of the event and idea.

"I think it's a great idea to get together all the kids from school, and it's Rita's ice cream of course," said Adase and she held up her ice cream cup and smiled.

Free movie nights at Rita's will be weekly on Tuesday. To get a discount for movie snacks, everyone must pick up a 'Movie Savers' coupon at the store, explained store manager Evans.
