Paul Kiesche's American Landscapes Shine Brightly at the Barron Arts Center

Woodbridges's Barron Arts Center hosts Paul Kiesche's Realistic Oil Painting Exhibit through March 29.

His exhibit is entitled “Off the Beaten Path”, but there was definitely nothing off about Paul Kiesche’s realistic landscape oil paintings being shown at the Barron Arts Center in Woodbridge. Running through March 29, the original oil paintings capture the beauty of nature and history in the Northeast United States.

“He has a good command of interpreting how light falls across the landscape” is how Mary Swarbrick of Boundbrook described Mr. Kiesche’s painting.  His paintings “Splash of Light” and “Murray Hill” were especially good examples of this.  They clearly showed the light as it as it was strewn across the buildings and through the trees.

Kiesche said, “The purpose of the paintings is to represent America, particularly the northeast and mostly New Jersey.” He uses painting “to push the vibrancy of light”.

An artist since he was a child, Kiesche first learned how to draw when his sister showed him how to illustrate cartoons. Always a natural artist, he started focusing more on his artwork when he was in high school   He said that by the time he was a junior in college, he was already an art director for a major publishing company and had forty illustration published.

The artist’s realistic landscaping makes one feel as if he could just walk into his paintings and be part of it.  Jerry Kirby of South Amboy was drawn to the painting, “An Evening Stroll”.  He said: “I could envision myself being engrossed with the realness of the scenery, trying to remain on the trail, and at the same time being tempted to explore the vivid scenery and the lights”.

“I paint because this is how I communicate," Kiesche said.

What a beautiful, expressive  communicator he is!  Be sure to call the Barron Arts Center for more information and directions at 732-634-0413 to see for yourself.
