Magic, Circuses, and Ballet: It's All Here in Your Grab & Go Kids Planner

Five exciting things to do with your little ones this weekend!

Welcome to another addition of the Woodbridge Patch Grab & Go Kids Planner – we do the research and bring you the top five things to do with your children this weekend.  From the circus to trains to a ballet, it’s all here in one spot.

  • Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus: Fully Charged at Prudential Center; 165 Mulberry St., Newark; 973-757-6600; Price: $15-$150; Friday-Sunday, various times

Featuring acts from all over the globe, Fully Charged is the 141st edition of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus.  Clowns from Clown Alley, the Human Fuse, daredevils, and never-before-seen performances highlight the show at the Prudential Center.  And, of course, all the animals you’ve come to expect from the world-famous circus will be there to entertain as well.

Got a little one who just loves trains?  Check out Westward Ho! A Train Extravaganza at the Children’s Museum of Somerset County in Bridgewater.  Activities will include an opportunity to design your own engineers cap, train buttons, a visit to the Wild West (with Lincoln Logs), model train sets to assemble and play with, painted cardboard box train cars, train books and videos, and more.  The event will be held in the multipurpose room of the PeopleCare center, where the museum is located.

  • The Magic of Lyn at Count Basie Theater; 99 Monmouth St, Red Bank; 732-842-9000; Price: $17.50-$22.50; Saturday, 7:30 PM.

America’s premier female illusionist Lyn Dillies brings twenty years of magic experience to the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank Saturday night.  Her DVD Learn Magic with Lyn is a Dove and Parent’s Choice award winner and she is the only illusionist to make two Asian elephants disappear in succession!  For one night only, audiences of all ages will get to see amazing illusions in Red Bank by one of magic’s most enchanting personalities.

Kids ages 7-9 can learn all there is to know about bubble gum at this exhibit in Basking Ridge.  Learn about the history of bubble gum, conduct bubble gum-related science experiments, and even make your own gum.  The Environmental Education Center also holds free Maple Sugaring events Saturday & Sunday!

  • New Jersey Ballet Company performs Cinderella at Kean University; 1000 Morris Ave., Union; 908-737-4334; Price: $15; Sunday, 2 PM.

See the New Jersey Ballet perform the timeless classic Cinderella at the Wilkins Theater on the campus of Kean University.  This special matinee performance is intended for children and families, performed with the original “storyteller” narration, so audiences of all ages can follow with ease.
