Join the Divas of Jersey Jazz Friday

Songstress Carrie Jackson delivers cool jazz Friday at the Barron Arts Center at a free concert.


If you think you don't like jazz, you haven't heard Carrie Jackson.

The singer will be turning up the heat at the Barron Arts Center Friday night with her Jazzin' All Stars. The concert, which kicks off the BAC's Divas of Jersey Jazz series, begins at 7:30 pm.

Carrie Jackson & Jazzin' All Star Ensemble perform the music of "Duke" Ellington, George and Ira Gershwin, Loerner and Lowe, Rodgers and Hart, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie, Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong, and tunes from the Great American Song Book.

Jackson herself follows her jazz mentors who form a Who's Who of American jazz singers: Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Carmen McRae.
