Jazz Piano Double Bill Takes the Stage in Rahway

Jazz piano virtuosos Helen Sung and Joel Fan play tonight near the UCPAC.

Two acclaimed jazz pianists will be taking the stage in Rahway tonight.

Helen Sung and Joel Fan play a double bill tonight at 6 pm LightSoundSpace, located next door to the Union County Performing Arts Center on Irving St.

Both artists have won accolades for their originality and virtuosity in piano styles. The winner of the Kennedy Center's Mary Lou Williams Piano Competition, Sung was deemed as one of the great emerging starts in jazz by critics. She's been kept busy with concert dates and her own growing fame since.

For his part, Fan, a New York City–based pianist, was esteemed for his with Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Project. Fan's solo work and eclectic musical choices caused the Las Vegas Review Journal to proclaim his musicianship "absolutely dazzling."
