'Girsa' Folk Music Festival Moves to Middle School

Because of the iffy weather, the free concert is being held at the Barron Ave. school instead of the Parker Press park.

The Irish music is still on for tonight - just a few blocks away.

'Girsa,' an all-female traditional Irish music band, will be playing at Woodbridge Middle School tonight at 7:30 pm. The free concert was originally slated to be performed at the Park Press Park on Rahway Ave. The humid, sporadically rainy weather caused organizers to move the concert to the Barron Ave. middle school instead.

The Girsa performance is part of Woodbridge Wednesdays, a free concert series promoted by the township and paid for by various business sponsors. Shannon Rose Irish Pub is the sponsor for the evening's performance.

According to Larry McCullough, the township's grant writer who also leads many public arts events in the area, the Shannon Rose "invites everyone to a great after-party" at the concert's end. The pub is located in the Shop Rite Shopping Center on Amboy Ave.
