The artists involved in the "Jersey Burns" urban art exhibit at LightSoundSpace will work with Rahway Arts District, Inc. to create a community-based arts project and also teach a workshop for kids on graffiti-style lettering. The workshop will teach basic lettering skills children can develop and personalize over time. An emphasis will be placed on finding a positive outlet for creativity and discouraging vandalism. A nominal fee will be charged for each workshop participant. The date of the workshop is still to be determined, but interested individuals can email rahwayartsdistrict@gmail.com or call 732-540-1075 for more information.
The Lightsoundspace website describes the "Jersey Burns" art exhibit as "urban-inspired fine art [that] typically draws on the stylistic lettering of graffiti, and other forms of street art, for inspiration. Beside that, urban art often responds to the artists’ everyday lives."
The "Jersey Burns" exhibit will be on view from April 5 to April 21, 2012. For more information, visit the website Lightsoundspace.com or ArtsRahway.com.
