David Cedeno And Orchestra Perform at Parker Press

The salsa musician David Cedeno and his orchestra will perform at James Parker Press Park in Woodbridge as part of the Latin Fusion: Jersey Style Concert Series on July 19 at 8 pm. The park is located at 428 Rahway Avenue in Woodbridge.

Concert admission is free, with a suggested donation of $5. Reservations are not required. In case of rain, the concert will be held indoors at Woodbridge Middle School located at 525 Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. Seating will be on a first come, first served basis. Call 732-634-0413 for more information.

After being on tour in Japan for six months Cedeno is back, bigger and better and once again united with his 14-piece band. His Latin orchestra plays a large variety of music including Latin salsa, Latin jazz, merengue, ballads, waltz and 50s oldies in a Latin salsa beat with English words. Some of his international hits include Lady in Red, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, Some Where, and Sealed With A Kiss. Cedeno's initiative to merge American music with Latin rhythm opened the gate for other Latin performers to attempt a crossover and introduce their music to America.

As a Latin musician, Cedeno's success stretched far beyond the borders of the United States. In 1996, David Cedeno and His Orchestra were asked to share their Latin music with the people of Japan. For six months, he was able to get in touch with a fan base he only heard about in letters and phone conversations.

This concert is part of the Latin Fusion: Jersey Style series, an all encompassing arts series that celebrates Latin influences in New Jersey and how New Jersey in turn has influenced Latin culture. The series is sponsored by The Woodbridge Township Cultural Arts Commission.
