BarronFest Artisans Set Up Shop in Parker Press Park Tomorrow

Over 40 artists and craftsmen will be on hand to celebrate the fourth year of the event dedicated to the Barron Arts Center.

More than a hundred years ago, society matron Clara Louise Poillon started a high-end arts and crafts pottery in the approximate area where Walgreens on Rahway Ave. is located.

Poillon won international acclaim for her uniquely crafted pitchers, bowls, and jardinieres.

Fine arts and crafts will be back again in Woodbridge Saturday, Oct. 1, and in almost the same spot, when the Fourth Annual BarronFest convenes in the . That's where over 40 talented local artisans will demonstrate and display their wares in the free-to-the-public festival, sponsored by the Woodbridge Township Cultural Arts Commission and the .

The festival will feature many original hand-made items including oils/acrylics, watercolor, photography, sculpture, graphics/drawings/pastels, mixed media and fine crafts including pottery, jewelry and other handcrafted items. Many exhibitors will also be doing live demonstrations.

The festival runs from 10 am to 4pm, rain or shine. Food and other refreshments will be available, including beer and wine, from Woodbridge’s Mulberry Street Restaurant.
