CPV Donates $2,000 to Season of Giving Food Drive

The Season of Giving Food Drive will accept donations from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.

UPDATE: The Season of Giving Food Drive drop-off spots at Mawbey Street School and Woodbridge Middle School will be closed Saturday due to the winter storm. The Woodbridge Rec Basketball League will hold a food drive on Jan. 4 at the schools to make up the date, according to league vice president Angel DeJesus.

Saturday's Season of Giving Food Drive got a head start on Thursday with a $2,000 donation from Competitive Power Ventures, builders of the CPV Woodbridge Energy Center.

The donation was presented by Yanina Daigle, CPV Public Affairs Manager, and Vice President of Construction Dan Nugent to Mayor John E. McCormac and Peter Barcellona, chairman of the We Feed Woodbridge Foodbank Committee.

The money will be enough to purchase an entire truckload of food to benefit Woodbridge's food pantries, Barcellona said.

Each pantry will receive a portion of the donation to put toward orders for their respective locations, Barcellona said. The food is purchased from the Community Food Bank in Hillside, he said.

From 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, the Season of Giving Food Drive will collect nonperishable food items, gift cards to local supermarkets and monetary donations to benefit the We Feed Woodbridge network of food pantries.

Nineteen locations township-wide will accept donations, including the recently added Mawbey Street School and Woodbridge Middle School.
