Keith Bell of Woodbridge was charged with allegedly assaulting and enticing a young girl to take explicit pictures of herself he posted on the Internet.
A Woodbridge man was arrested and charged Thursday with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl and posting sexually explicit photos of her on the Internet after he got her to pay him a bribe not to post the pictures. Keith Bell, 21, was charged on February 28 with aggravated sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault, two counts of endangering the welfare of the child, one count of causing a prohibited sexual act, and child pornography. The arrest was announced by the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office and Woodbridge Police Department. Bell was charged with theft by extortion after allegedly telling the girl he would not post explicit photos of her on the Internet if she gave him an undisclosed amount of cash. A Fedex driver was struck and killed by a van this morning in the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township. The driver who hit him was taken by helicopter to a New Brunswick trauma center
Woodbridge police confirmed that the driver of a FedEx truck was struck and killed by a van this morning in the Colonia section of Woodbridge. "He was just doing his job" when he was hit by the male driver of a minivan, said Woodbridge Police Captain Roy Hoppock. Even though the FedEx driver was hit, it was the driver of the other vehicle who was airlifted by a Medevac helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, Hoppock said. That driver, who hit the FedEx employee, suffered injuries that required his immediate transportation to Robert Wood Johnson Trauma Center in New Brunswick. He was airlifted there by Medevac. Three Brooklyn men were in federal court Thursday on suspicion of having committed armed robberies at cell phone stores in Woodbridge and Linden
Three Brooklyn men were arrested Thursday by the FBI in connection with the 2012 armed robberies of T-Mobile stores in Woodbridge and Linden, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced. Terrell McQueen, 29, was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and two counts of using a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. Carl Williams, 29, and Eric Williams, 32, were each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit robbery and one count of using a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. Victims of Hurricane Sandy weren't the only ones taken in by David Scott Ruddy. A shelter survivor was the one who turned Ruddy in after officials ignored her pleas.
When David Scott Ruddy was arrested in Woodbridge for allegedly flimflamming Hurricane Sandy victims out of $50,000 in FEMA funds, there was one person who not only knew who he was, but had been calling and warning officials about him for months. That was Kathleen Marchitto, who met Ruddy first at a shelter put up at an Old Bridge school, and then later when she and other hurricane victims were moved to the Red Cross shelter set up at Livingston College of Rutgers University in Piscataway. A man Woodbridge Police say took advantage of residents who were trying to get their lives back together after the destructive October hurricane was arrested over three weeks ago. Police arrested David Scott Ruddy, 32, of Metuchen on January 26 and charged him with 11 counts of theft by deception and 3 counts of wrongful impersonation. Township police are warning residents to beware of a strange man who wants to "fix your mattress'. He's been scaring people in the Port Reading area.
Woodbridge police are warning Woodbridge residents to be on the alert for a man who might try to gain entry to their home on the bizarre pretext of 'fixing' your mattress. On Friday, February 1, a man, police said, was prowling around Port Reading around 3:30 pm. He was armed with a stick, a tape measure, and a white cell phone. The prowler knocks on the door of one Port Reading resident and demanded entrance to the home under the guise of repairing a mattress. The call was answered by a young female, who didn't open the door to the man, who kept insisting he had a duty to fix her mattress. Three full-time Woodbridge patrolmen will be patrolling the township's 24 schools to make the district safer for students.
Woodbridge parents can breathe a little easier as far as their children's safety is concerned. The Board of Education approved a motion to add three off-duty police officers to patrol the district's 24 schools during the school day. The three officers will join three others who currently are on watch at Woodbridge schools. There are 16 elementary schools, five middle schools, and three high schools in the district. The idea to add more officers came from the district's new superintendent, Dr. Robert Zega. A car slammed into a house on Old Road, not far from Matthew Jago School, Friday morning.
A car that officials said was apparently speeding in the Port Reading-Sewaren section of Woodbridge yesterday went out of control and struck a home on that street, according to a report on abclocal.com. The accident happened at approximately 11 am on Friday, February 1, said Ana Velez, who lives nearby and who is friends with the woman who owns the home struck by the automobile. The driver was issued a summons for excessive speeding, abclocal.com said. The automobile had two passengers, but neither was hurt, nor was anyone in the house struck by the car injured. Woodbridge police reported two break and entries to vehicles parked at two Route 9 businesses last week.
Two motorists who parked in the lots of two Route 9 establishments came back to a nasty surprise last week when unknown burglars broke into the parked vehicles. Somewhere between Wednesday January 23, around 2:30 pm and Thursday, January 24, a crook vandalized a 1993 Honda Civic, which had been parked in the lot of Walmart. The unknown vandal had rifled through the vehicle and removed the car stereo, police said. The vehicle owner, who reported the robbery, said he thought he hadn't locked the door to car. Woodbridge police said there was no sign of a forced entry. Further down on Route 9, police responded to a report of a vandalized pickup truck parked at the Hampton Inn. The Woodbridge police officer beaten up by a fan of a rival hockey team in Philadelphia last year has filed a lawsuit against his attacker and the bar that served the attacker alcohol. Neal Auricchio, Jr. has served a six-count indictment on Dennis Veteri, his attacker, according to a report in the Star-Ledger. Veteri was sentenced in December to just 23 months of house arrest and five years' probation for his attack on Auricchio and his friend, Michael Janocko of Woodbridge. Auricchio was left unconscious in the attack and suffered a concussion and fractured bones around his eye.
