OPEN: Finally, Access To Seaside Heights (Though Limited)

Limited access allowed today; full access on Jan. 7

Seaside Heights announced that it's ready to move forward with the following plan/schedule that will allow limited access to the beachfront community, according to the town's website.   Anyone is allowed into Seaside Heights, without being stopped by officers at the bridge or at any entry points, from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Any retail/entertainment businesses can be open during these same hours. "Let people come and go whether they’re here to work or just coming over to get a bite to eat," the website says. Full access will be allowed Jan. 7. At any time by anyone, businesses can be open from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m., and people can live in any units that are ready. Also:

Will Seaside Roller Coaster Stay In The Atlantic Ocean?

Could the roller coaster that was swept into the Atlantic Ocean as Hurricane Sandy hit the Jersey Shore remain where it is, standing straight up? So says Seaside Heights Mayor Bill Akers, who told WNBC-TV in New York that the ride could become "a great tourist attraction" if it stays where it is.    From WNBC's report: The picture of the ride, which looks more like a water slide these days, has become an iconic image of the damage Sandy wreaked up and down the coast just over three weeks ago. But Akers, in an interview with NBC 4 New York, said he is working with the Coast Guard to see if it is stable enough to leave it alone. Woodbridge May Experience "Severe Credit Stress" Because of Sandy, Says Moody's

The bond rating agency marked Woodbridge as one of six local governments that could have short and long-term financial woes because of Hurricane Sandy.

Six local government entities were singled out by Moody's Investor Service, one of the big three municipal bond rating agencies, in a report as potentially coming under "significant credit stress" because of the impact of Hurricane Sandy in late October.  Three Jersey shore towns - Seaside Heights, Atlantic City and Brick Township - made Moody's list of those facing financial stress because of the hurricane's damage and destruction.  Also on that short list was Woodbridge.
