The township will be getting ready for Easter with a free celebration at the Parker Press Park
Parents and kids will be lining up for Woodbridge's traditional Easter Festival. This year, it'll be held at the Parker Press Park on Rahway Avenue, next to Walgreens. The festivities start at 10 am with an Easter Egg hunt that will run until noon. An Easter Parade and pictures with the Easter Bunny - courtesy of Walgreens - will be held from 2 pm to 4 pm. Just in time for the holiday season.
The Woodbridge Recreation Department will be holding a free photo-taking session with Santa Claus this Saturday. The event, sponsored by Walgreens, will take place on Saturday, December 8, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at Parker Press Park on Rahway Avenue. Guests are asked to bring non-perishable canned goods as a donation to help the township's food banks. In return, they will visit Santa and get a complimentary 4 by 6 inch picture with him, courtesy of Walgreens. For more information, call 732-596-4048. Forty artists and artisans showed up with their handcrafted finery for the fifth annual celebration of local handcrafted works.
There was a slight nip of autumn is in the air, but it wasn't all about Halloween (not yet, anyway.) Saturday was the fifth outing for the annual BarronFest, a menagerie of fine art and handcrafted artisan goods in Woodbridge. Held at the Parker Press Park, the festival is a celebration of the work of local artists, and a feast for the senses for lovers of fine object d'art from anywhere. About 40 artists showed up to show off and sell their wares, ranging from traditional watercolors and oils to pottery, jewelery and the creation of art from found objects. Head on over to the 6th Annual Central Jersey Beer Fest today, Saturday, September 22, from 1 pm to 5 pm at the Parker Press Park on Rahway Avenue. Hosted by Woodbridge's own popular brew pub, J.J. Lee Civil War Roundtable of Central New Jersey is holding the second day of its Living History Weekend at the Parker Press Park on Rahway Avenue. The reenactment, full of Civil War soldiers, arms, tents, and more, takes place today from 10 am to 4 pm. A band known for its haunting Irish melodies and lilting lyrics, Philadelphia-based RUNA will be performing at a free concert tonight at James Parker Press Park. Unfortunately I attended the Easter Egg Hunt with my grandchildren for the first time. It was a disaster. Most of the children didn't even get one egg, the line for a "present" (a PEZ dispenser) was over an hour wait and when you did get to the end of the line, they took your eggs away, if you had any, in exchange for the PEZ dispenser.
