Thousands of Bottles of Water Help Woodbridge Students Weather the Water Alert

Woodbridge High School students still can't drink the school's water. That doesn't mean they or other area schools affected by yesterday's 'boil water' alert will be without.

Woodbridge High School students who returned to the building today after yesterday's unexpected holiday from a burst water pipe still won't be able to drink water from school fountains. Traffic Back Ups and No School Near Route 35 Water Main Break

A water main break on Route 35 caused the closure of Woodbridge High School for the day and has snarled traffic in both directions of the break.

A 'boil water' alert had been sent out by the company at 4 am. The area for the alert extended to Woodbridge Proper, where the break occurred, Avenel, Fords, and the Clara Barton section of Edison. About ten sites near main break who receive water were deprived of it, but most of them had had their water restored by mid-morning, according to Bernadette Sohler, a vice …

Residents from various areas of Woodbridge and Edison are being cautioned to boil their water for the next two days.

Woodbridge residents, boil your water!  A broken water main near Woodbridge High School early this morning has necessitated the issuance of a 'boil water' alert from Middlesex Water Company, the utility that provides water to homeowners. The alert affects residents of Fords, Avenel, and Woodbridge Proper as well as the Clara Barton section of Edison. The broken main may also affect water pressure in these areas, the company said in a release. The water company crews are working currently to fix the break. The notification to boil tap water before drinking it is a precaution, they said. The alert remains for the next 48 hours. Customers are being advised to boil their tap water used for drinking for a period of one minute, not including the…
