Suspended Principal Still Fighting to Clear Her Name

Attorneys for former Avenel Street School Principal Dara Kurlander are petitioning to get the confidential state files into a school cheating scandal.

Three months after the Woodbridge School District suspended five educators based on the results of a state investigation into standardized test cheating, one of the suspended principals wants to clear her name. Attorneys for Dara Kurlander, who was principal at Avenel Street Schools #4 & #5, want to see the confidential files upon which the NJ Office of Accountability and Compliance (OFAC) based their report on the cheating scandal that rocked the township in August. Kurlander's attorneys announced they have filed a petition with the Superior Court of New Jersey to gain access to OFAC's investigatory files, which includes interviews with subjects who say they observed the cheating and Kurlander's role in it. The interviews have so far …

Would you welcome him as a prinicipal to your child's school? Or would you say 'no way'?

Nine Schools Treated by Fake Asbestos Removal Contractor Will Open on Time

Schools Superintendent John Crowe says 9 Woodbridge schools involved will be ready for kids in September.

The nine township schools treated by a Woodbridge asbestos removal contractor who wasn't licensed for the work are being tested again - this time, to make sure they're safe for children to return to when school opens in September. Woodbridge Schools Superintendent John Crowe said that the nine affected schools throughout the district are being tested for asbestos by RAM Environmental Services. "They've inspected the encapsulation and said it was fine," said Crowe, who doesn't envision there being any delay in returning children to the classrooms this school term. "We're just being proactive" in making sure the schools are fit for students, Crowe said. Nine Woodbridge Township schools were among dozens of facilities in several counties …

Barnes & Noble Book Fair Starts Today

This the third annual fundraiser at Menlo Park Mall that benefits all schools in the Woodbridge school district.

It's the third annual Barnes & Noble Book Fair, the event that raises money and immerses Woodbridge school kids, their teachers, and parents in books. This year, it's better than ever. The event takes place at the B&N in Menlo Park Mall in Edison and runs from Friday, June 15 through Wednesday, June 20. All book lovers have to do is make a purchase and use the book voucher or number (in this case, ID #10779346) so that the district gets the credit for the purchase. The voucher can be found here for those who'd like to print it out. Books and other items can also be purchased online and the district will still get credit.  At the B&N store, there will be a host of events taking place throughout the fair, including giveaways and prizes. …
