Child Ballet Dancers Wanted for Auditions Today

Ballet dancers ages 6 to 9 are wanted to try out today for Ballet with a Twist, at the Union County Arts Center in Rahway.

Got a young ballerina in the family? Today maybe be her - or his - lucky day. Ballet with a Twist wil be holding dance auditions for ballet students ages 6 to 9. The auditions are today, April 13, from 9 am to 2 pm at The Loft inside the Union County Performing Arts Center at 1601 Irving Street in Rahway.from 9:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m. Those auditioning should demonstrate an ability to learn choreography in a professional setting, and be available for several rehearsals in Rahway throughout April and May. Selected dancers will perform at the Rahway Train Station Plaza during the family-friendly event Hot Rods and Harleys on May 11th. They will then join the company for its spring season at Hamilton Stage on May 17, 18, and 19. Children will …

'Raconteurs and Roustabouts' Show Hits UCPAC Tonight

This is one show you won't want to miss, tonight at 8 pm.

Looking for one unusual and fun experience to celebrate the arrival of February? Get yourself to the Hamilton Stage at the Union County Performing Arts Center tonight for "Raconteurs and Roustabouts: Where Culture and Carnivals Collide." The show is tonight, February 1, at 8 pm, at the theatre, located at 360 Hamilton Street in Rahway. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online. It promises to be an evening you won't soon forget (the theatre advises that because of the nature of the event, only those 16 and up should attend.) Hamilton Stage Opens in Rahway This Saturday

A new performing arts theatre is right next door from Woodbridge.

Rahway's new Hamilton Stage theatre is opening on Saturday, September 22, and a 12-year-old girl will be opening with the National Anthem. Saje’da Cupido, who competed among contestants of all ages to be the first singer to perform at the new theater's official opening.  She will perform the National Anthem at the new site, located at 360 Hamilton Street in Rahway. Saje’da, who resides with her family in Bloomfield, has been singing since the age of two and performing since the age of seven. Twice a year she sings for the National Federation of the Blind.  A panel of three judges from the Hello Hamilton staff selected Saje’da from other contestants for her unique style and impressive vocal ability. Theatre Specially for Autistic Children

'Sensory Friendly Theatre' is a delightful experience, guaranteed to entertain and soothe austistic children and their parents

Autistic children and their parents are in for a unique treat in Rahway. The Union County Performing Arts Center will be holding 'Sensory Friendly Theatre', a series of live performances specially designed and adapted for children with autism and related disabilities.  The series kicks off on Sunday, June 10, at 2 pm with 'Tom Chapin & Friends,' the singer/songwriter and three-time Grammy winning artist, who specializes in entrancing children and adults with sophisticated original music. Two more shows are part of the series: Little Red Riding Hood and Pinocchio, to be performed in the fall.  Tickets for all performances are $8 each. Michael McDonald Brings Blue-Eyed Soul to UCPAC

The former Doobie Brother bought his band and his brand of "blue-eyed soul" to Rahway Sunday night.

Even if you think you don't know Michael McDonald, you probably do. If you don't recognize his familiar voice right away, you've probably seen him in recent years on American Idol or 30 Rock or performing the National Anthem prior to game one of this year's NBA Finals in Miami. McDonald – a five time Grammy winner and former member of 70s stalwarts the Doobie Brothers – bought his solo tour to the Union County Performing Arts Center Sunday night, performing over a dozen hits and cover songs for the nearly sold-out crowd in Rahway.
