Local Restaurant Closes as a Result of Buyout

Cheeseburger in Paradise is no more - at least not in Iselin.

It was like any other Tuesday night at Cheeseburger in Paradise. Lights were twinkling, the flat screen TVs were on, people were enjoying margaritas over a chat, and dinner was being served. It was also the last dinner for the chain restaurant's Iselin branch. As of Wednesday, the Iselin Cheeseburger in Paradise was to be permanently closed. There was no big announcement, but on Wednesday, the deal to sell the Cheeseburger franchises was finalized. The buyer was to be Luby's, a Midwestern concern that specializes in cafeterias and other franchises such as Fuddruckers. The Iselin manager wouldn't confirm that the location was being shuttered. No New Jersey Sears or Kmarts to be Closed - So Far

Sears released a list of underperforming stores to be closed. No NJ stores are on the list - but there are more announcements to come.

Sears released a list of 79 stores that were to be closed as part of the company's financial retrenchment in the wake of disappointing year end sales. No New Jersey Kmarts or Sears stores were on the list of 79 stores. However, the company had announced on December 27 that the planned closings would number from 100 to 120 stores. There will be more shuttered stores to come, they said. There is a Sears located at Woodbridge Center, and a Kmart in Avenel.  Sears Holding Company, the company will oversees the Sears and KMart stores, said in the list of 79 store closings that they couldn't say exactly how many employees would be affected by the store closings until the list was finalized.
