Robbers Lock Two Workers in Freezer at Woodbridge Taco Bell

Two suspects robbed delivery men serving the Taco Bell in Woodbridge early Wednesday morning

Two suspects, dressed in dark hoodies and brandishing a silver gun, surprised two workers making a 3 am delivery at Taco Bell in Woodbridge early Wednesday morning. Woodbridge Police Captain Roy Hoppock said the suspects assailed the delivery workers as they were making an early morning drop off of supplies to the fast food restaurant, located in the ShopRite shopping center on St. Georges Avenue. The workers had arrived and were unloading their supplies from the truck when one of the employees was approached by a suspect who waved a silver revolver in his face and said, "This is a robbery." The assailant ordered both victims into the freezer and locked the door behind them.  Hoppock said, "It appears nothing was taken, or they couldn't …

Do You Know This Man? Brick Bank Robbery Suspect Linked to Woodbridge Robbery

Suspect appears to be the same man who robbed the Woodbridge Provident Bank a year ago.

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who may be linked to two bank robberies - one in Brick earlier this month, and another in Woodbridge last year. On Jan. 4, an unidentified man robbed the OceanFirst bank branch on Adamston Road in Brick. During the course of the investigation into that robbery, investigators discovered that their suspect appeared to look very similar to the suspect in another bank robbery that occurred in Jan. 2012, said Brick Police Sgt. Keith Reinhard. The previous robbery occurred in Woodbridge at the Provident Bank on Amboy Avenue. The man walked into the branch and handed the teller a note, demanding money. He took the cash and ran, Woodbridge police said. No one was injured in the …

Gas Station Bandit Arrested After a Second Hit on an Avenel Gas Station

Woodbridge police arrested Arthur Allen Montague, 27, of Avenel for two different robberies of gas stations, right down the street from where he lives.

A man being held in the Tuesday robbery of an Avenel gas station may be the same robber who held up another Avenel gas station back in December. Woodbridge police arrested Arthur Allen Montague, 27, of Avenel on suspicion of the armed robbery of the BP gas station on Route 1 South on January 15 at 8:13 pm. Police said a white male wearing a black hoodie pulled down around his face appeared at the BP station and confronted the attendant while holding a knife on him. The robber demanded all the attendant's money, plus two cartons of cigarettes grabbed from a box on the floor.  The suspect, police said, grabbed a white cordless phone and fled in an apparent attempt to keep the gasoline station attendant from calling for help. The attendant …

Woman Robbed at Gunpoint in Avenel Hotel Parking Lot

The victim was sitting in her car when a robber opened the car door and flashed a gun in her face.

A female driver sitting in her automobile Monday night got the shock of her life when an armed bandit opened the car door, shoved a gun in her face, and demanded her valuables. Woodbridge Police said that the woman was parked in the parking lot of the Fairfield Inn on Route 1 South in the Avenel section of Woodbridge around 8:54 pm on November 12. A man yanked open her car door and brandished what was described as "a shiny handgun" in her face while demanding, "Where's the money?" The victim's response apparently wasn't quick enough for the crook. He quickly searched her pockets, then spying her cell phone and purse on the seat next to her, grabbed those articles and handed them over to an accomplice nearby. According to police, both …

Police Nab Two Carteret Men in Fords Gas Station Robbery

Two suspects were apprehended after they stole $150 in cash and some cigarettes from the Raceway Petroleum gas station Thursday.

Two Carteret men were nabbed by Woodbridge police Thursday after they robbed a Fords gas station. Police apprehended Haider Ali Cheema, 19, and Mohammad S. Khan, 20, both of Carteret, after they allegedly engaged in a "glass break" - smashing in the glass window - of the Raceway Petroleum gas station on Lafayette Road in the Fords section of Woodbridge on September 6. The men were seen by police walking away from the gas station after the owner called 911 to report the broken window, $150 in cash missing, and several packs of cigarettes stolen. As police approached the men, they split off and ran in opposite directions. Police grabbed Cheema immediately and found Khan hiding out on Hickock Street after a brief search. Officers found the …

Generalizing an entire race for one individual or a group’s action is not appropriate. Besides those people who were involved in the event at that particular time are the only one what really happened. I know police reports can be exceptionally vague and alluding. By far this is still not an excuse for their actions which they will be held accountable for. Despite that fact, no one was hurt.   more ›

Woodbridge Center Robber May Not Have Been Acting Alone

The gunman who held up of an Express store in the mall Wednesday evening may have had an accomplice who drove him to rob a GameStop store in neighboring Perth Amboy.

The armed suspect who robbed an Express store in Woodbridge Center yesterday may not have been working alone. Police theorize that because the same robber held up a GameStop store in Perth Amboy - more than four miles away and in less than 20 minutes - that an accomplice may have been waiting for him as a driver in a car outside the mall. "It seems pretty quick," said Woodbridge Police Captain Roy Hoppock for the gunman to have made it from inside the mall, to a car, then down busy Route 9 at rush hour, and to the GameStop store on Convery Boulevard at about 5:45 pm. It was the second incident at the mall in less than a week. On March 8, a shoplifter escaping from an off-duty Woodbridge policeman ran into Sears and took an elderly shopper…

Another Woodbridge Center Store is Robbed

Less than a week after a hostage-taking incident that ended with the death of the shoplifter, an armed bandit held up another store in the Sears wing of the mall.

Six days after a policeman shot and killed a shoplifter who held a woman hostage at knifepoint in Woodbridge Center, another armed thug robbed a store at almost the same time and in the same wing of the mall. Express, a woman's clothing store in the lower level Sears wing of the shopping center, was held up by a gunman Wednesday night at approximately 5:27 pm, according to a report on nj.com. The store was locked down, and the gunman fled, police said. Less than 20 minutes later, at about 5:45 pm, the same suspect held up a GameStop on Convery Boulevard in Perth Amboy and got away with between $400 and $700, mycentralnj.com reported. Perth Amboy police issued the alert after hearing about the Woodbridge Center robbery, adding that the …

For years locals have been heard to joke about how car thieves would arrive at the Woodbridge Center Mall by bus and go home by car. While the location of the mall provides shoppers easy access to and from several major roadways, it also provides quick getaway routes for those seeking to fulfill their shopping goals in a dishonest manner. As our world remains locked in a deep and protracted …   more ›
