Many of us who grew up in New Jersey have wonderful memories of the Jersey Shore. I was a Bradley Beach and Asbury Park guy who remembers the glory days from the 1960's when Asbury Park had 5 movie theaters and a great Boardwalk. I am also thrilled that Governor Christie and President Obama are touring the improvements together. While I do not agree with many of the Presidents programs, I do …   more ›

TELL US: Do You Care About 'Sequestration'?

Has the scary news about the impending federal sequester got you worried?

If it feels like we went through something like this just a month or so ago, you're right. That was when we were warned that the country was set to nosedive off the "Fiscal Cliff" back in December. As you'll recall, part of the Fiscal Cliff was a series of tax cuts dating from the Bush Administration era that were set to run out unless President Barack Obama and Congress came to terms before the expiration. You saw the results when the government took a bigger cut from your first paycheck in 2013. But now we're teetering on the verge of another federal precipice with the Sequestration. But what is it? What the Sequester Is Part of the resolution of the Fiscal Cliff was the American Taxpayer Relief Act. That extended some tax cuts and …

Obama came up with the idea of Sequestration now live with it. Why doesn't Obama and his wife try to conserve some of our money? Both of them try to come off like a regular brother or sister but meanwhile they like to live the high life at our expense. Trips to Aspen, Hawaii, MV and golf with Tiger Woods. Meanwhile, the majority of Westfielders put him in office.   more ›

Who Won The Presidential Debate?

Barack Obama and Mitt Romney duked it out in Denver, Colo.

President Barack Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney faced off in the first of three presidential debates Wednesday night. The debate was held at the University of Denver in Colorado. President Obama, 51, vying for his second term, was leading by four percentage points in a national poll over challenger Mitt Romney, 65, before the debate. However, political pundits and speculation on Huffington Post questioned whether the debate could change the standings. The candidates are expected to debate each other two more times - once on Oct. 16 and once on Oct. 22. The topics for those debates will be domestic policy on the 16th and foreign policy on the 22nd. Even a small bump from Wednesday night's domestic policy forum could make the …

'Obamacare' SCOTUS Case Puts NJ at ‘Crossroads’

Sen. Joseph F. Vitale (D-Middlesex): “New Jersey is positioned to do some good things in the absence of the federal reform.”

Parents know how tough it is to deal with two-year-olds. Now advocates for healthcare reform are finding out just how agonizing the “terrible twos” can be. With the Supreme Court appearing split on the fate of the overhaul, grassroots advocates nonetheless turned out this week to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the federal Affordable Care Act at a restaurant in the Valley Arts District. The television above the bar at Hat City Kitchen tuned to the nightly news recap of three days of historic Supreme Court arguments on the most wide-reaching and controversial aspect, requiring most people to buy basic insurance, the irony not lost on guests of the Citizen Action Education Fund. They understood the fight had not ended when President …

Obama Arrives in New Jersey to Tour Flood-Ravaged Areas

Five helicopters signal president's arrival as crowd lines Passaic Avenue.

President Barack Obama, wearing a blue buttoned-down shirt, waved to a crowd along Passaic Avenue in Fairfield Sunday from the back of his black motorcade car as he sped toward Wayne and Paterson to tour flood-ravaged areas.  Obama could be seen briefly in his motorcade after arriving at Essex County's airport in Fairfield in one of five military helicopters that landed between 12:25 and 12:45 p.m. Police presence was heavy all along Passaic Avenue, while sharpshooters could be seen on top of the buildings at the airport. A line of buses were parked in front of the landing area so the view of his disembarking was blocked from the crowds. Crowds of local residents lined parking lots and grassy lawns of businesses along Passaic Avenue to get…
