County Raises Awareness on Sexual Assaults

April is "Sexual Assault Awareness Month"; the Middlesex County Board of Freeholders are implementing a month-long series of programs to help victims and stop violence.

The Middlesex County Board of Freeholders is going all out to raise awareness about sexual violence. The county governing body will proclaim April as “Sexual Assault Awareness Month” (SAAM) at its next meeting on Thursday April 4. They also plan to rename the county's Rape Crisis Intervention Center at the meeting to better reflect the efforts to ensure survivors receive the support they need and deserve. The Middlesex County Office of Health Services’ Health Education Division, the Rape Crisis Intervention Center, and the Middlesex County Sexual Violence Prevention Coalition have come together with the support of the Board of Chosen Freeholders to join the efforts of national, state, and local partners to educate the community about what…

County Upgrades Iselin's Merrill Park

With new walkways, pedestrians will have a happier time in the Woodbridge park, one of Middlesex County's oldest.

Iselin residents have been noticing a lot of activity around Merrill Park, and they were wondering what was going on. Turns out the Middlesex County Board of Freeholders is engaging on a series of park improvments they say will improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety in what is one of the county's oldest and most heavily used parks. The county park is located in the Iselin section of Woodbridge Township. The changes, expected to be completed by this summer, include separate, 10-foot wide paved walking paths for pedestrians, who now share a roadway with vehicles. The county really should do somthing about the field they bought on Harrel ave.Its a shame that the kids have to walk to school in six inches of mud.   more ›
