Can You Zumba? JFK Medical Center Wants You!

They're hosting a Zumbathon with all kinds of goodies to support the American Heart Association

Do you like to Zumba? You can do it for a good cause -  Go Red for Women - and help fight heart disease. JFK Medical Center in Edison will be hosting a Zumbathon to support the American Heart Association’s national campaign against female heart disease. The Zumbathon will be held on Tuesday, February 5, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the JFK Conference Center at 70 James Street.  The event is open to the public, and features refreshments, giveaways, and a raffle, as well as educational materials on getting heart healthy. The $10 donation will go to the American Heart Association. For more information, call Jayne Lendach at 732-744-5752. JFK Medical Center to Offer Free Health Fair

You have nothing to lose, and a lot to gain - and it's all free!

It's time to take the steps for good health. This week, you can do it for free. JFK Medical Center in Edison, in conjunction with New Hope Baptist Church of Metuchen, are holding a Community Health Fair this week. The fair is free and features a host of screenings for high blood pressure, heart disease, hypertension and diabetes. Attendees will be able to speak with health care providers about their ailments, take a free Zumba class, and learn about the latest in health and personal products. The event also features a free strength training demonstration along with giveaways and more. JFK Hospital Celebrates EMS Week

From paramedics and emergency medical technicians to fire fighters and police, they're the folks on the front lines of saving lives.

It's not just a job; it's a calling. That's the message that JFK Medical Center in Edison is sending during National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, an event dedicated to recognizing the jobs that EMS workers of all stripes do in saving lives. EMS Week is May 20 to 26 this year, and the theme, "EMS: More Than A Job. A Calling", honors those community members who provide day-to-day, “front-line” lifesaving services - from paramedics and emergency medical technicians to fire fighters and police. The Edison-based medical center is offering a free stroke awareness program and screening in recognition of May's National Stroke Awareness Month.

JFK Medical Center’s Comprehensive Stroke Center will host a FREE Stroke Awareness program and health screening on Wednesday, May 2 from 5 pm to 7 pm in the Conference Center at 70 James Street in Edison. Members of the Hospital’s medical staff, along with a stroke survivor, will present the latest information regarding signs and symptoms of stroke, the importance of early treatment, and lifestyle modifications to prevent a stroke.   JFK Medical Center will host their 29th Annual Career Options Day on Tuesday, April 17 from 9 am to 1 pm at the JFK Conference Center on 70 James Street in Edison. JFK Medical Center Hosts a Zumbathon to Fight Female Heart Disease

Got some free time? Zumba for a cause tonight at JFK!

Did you know that heart disease kills more women than all types of cancer combined? Raising awareness about heart disease is the point of the American Heart Association's national Go Red for Women project. JFK Medical Center in Edison is doing their bit to support the cause. They are hosting a Zumbathon today from 5 to 7 pm at the JFK Conference Center at 70 James Street in Edison. The $10 donation per person to Zumba your healthy heart out will benefit the American Heart Association. There will be refreshments, giveaways and basket raffles as well as educational information on how to 'Love Your Heart'. JFK Cuts Ribbon on New Pediatric Emergency Room Facility

Local officials and well-wishers showed up Tuesday to applaud the opening of a new pediatric ER at JFK Medical Center.

Under a rainbow of balloons and an ocean of smiles, officials of JFK Medical Center and the local area were present Thursday at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the facility's brand new pediatric emergency department. "It's a first class, state-of-the-art ER," beamed Ray Fredericks, president and CEO of Solaris Health Systems, which owns the medical center, located in Edison. The new 16 room pediatric facility is geared toward the comfort of children and their parents, said Steven Weiss, spokesman for JFK. The pediatric ER has a separate, private entrance so that children won't be exposed to adult health care emergencies that might compound the fright youngsters would feel in any emergency situation.
