FEMA Center Opens in Woodbridge
A FEMA van unfurled its sign, right at the Woodbridge Health Center today.
A FEMA Disaster Relief Center (DRC) just opened up in Linden, but now Woodbridge residents who experienced losses from Hurricane Sandy won't even have to go that far. A DRC operated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency just opened up at the Woodbridge Health Center at George Frederick Plaza. That's the building right next to the Woodbridge Main Library near Woodbridge High School. An employee said that the headquarters at the health center will be opened daily from 9 am to 7 pm to help people who suffered from storm-related damages. That's quite a number of people in Woodbridge Township, particularly in the Sewaren, Avenel, and Port Reading sections, flooded by Sandy's storm surge. Just checked with FEMA officials at the Wdbg Health Center and they confirmed that this recovery center is open to ANYONE from New Jersey who needs their help--not just Woodbridge residents. The Mayor's press release was wrong. This center is open from 9 am to 7 pm every day. There are Shore area residents who were displaced and are being housed in Woodbridge--they can come here or anyone else …   more ›
