Superintendent Admits Woodbridge High School is Under Investigation

Yet another district school is being eyed by the State Dept. of Education on allegations of cheating.

  All they had originally intended to do was hire a high school football coach. Instead, a special Woodbridge Board of Education meeting called Tuesday night mushroomed because of several difficult and painful subjects that have hit the school district in the past week. They included the possibility of suing a fake asbestos removal contractor who forged his credentials while treating nine Woodbridge schools for asbestos; the sudden and mysterious dismissal of the assistant schools superintendent from her job last week; and the ongoing state investigation into several Woodbridge schools based on allegations of cheating on standardized tests. What Will 2012 Bring in Woodbridge Education?

David Pinkowitz, the much-esteemed 'Woodbridge Sage' and former BOE candidate, gives his take on what the New Year holds for the township's schools.

As 2011 comes to an end, Governor Christie stated that his biggest regretwas in not getting education reform passed. Some of these proposals include modification of the tenure rules based on merit, compensation based on the needs of the district rather than the seniority of the teachers, the implementation of a school voucher program for certain districts and making it easier to start charter schools in the state. With the Democrats having gained an additional seat in the legislature, it seems unlikely that Christie will be able to push much of his agenda through, especially since some issues, like charter schools, are starting to face opposition in suburban school districts where money will be leaving successful districts.
