Woodbridge Republican Candidates Get County Tea Party Endorsement

But the two factions of the party still hold a bitter animosity toward one another.

It's still the dog days of summer, but there are stirrings abroad that autumn - and political campaigns - are waking from their warm weather siestas. Woodbridge residents will get to choose a mayor and council candidates in November. The Democrat incumbents - Mayor John McCormac and his council slate - are running for reelection, or for appointed candidates, a first time election. On the Republican side, Chris Struben heads the ticket locally. Struben is running for mayor, along with his council candidates: Walter Kazmarek, Jr., Debra Reinhart, and Eduardo Ascolese. There are four at-large seats up for grabs. The fourth Republican who won in the June primary is Susan Boros. She was the high council vote-getter from the Bob Luban ticket. …

Don't worry about candidate Reinhard, she's tight with Johnny Mac, as she has told everyone on various occasions. Think she may even have him on speed dial, so she can give him timely reports on her fellow Republicans, especially after a WTRO meeting. Can't wait to see her next photo op with Chris Christie. Woodbridge Republicans To Battle in Acrimonious Primary Contest

Councilman Bob Luban and former municipal prosecutor Christopher Struben and their slates will face off in Tuesday's primary contest.

One thing Tuesday's Republican primary won't be is placid. That's because Councilman Bob Luban and former township prosecutor Christopher Struben are both running for the party line for the mayoral nomination, and both admit there is little love lost between the two competing Republicans. "Bob Luban believes he's entitled to perks at the taxpayers' expense. I don't. I'm a real Republican," said Struben, who - not coincidentally - is running on the "Right Choice for Real Republicans" line. Luban, the council's sole Republican, resolutely insists his target isn't Struben - it's Mayor John McCormac, the incumbent Democrat whom Tuesday's Republican primary winner will be facing in November.
