Still No Clues in Woodbridge Center Carjacking

Police are still looking for two men who forcibly stole a Range Rover from a shopper after assaulting him on April 19.

Two assailants who carjacked a 2013 Range Rover from a local man at Woodbridge Center last Friday still haven't been apprehended. The assault took place at the mall near the Route 9 parking lot of Sears, said Woodbridge Police Captain Roy Hoppock, around 11:40 am. The man, who had been shopping at the mall, returned to his late model vehicle when suddenly a blue Subaru pulled up next to him. The assailant, who had a ski mask over his head, pulled the driver out of his vehicle and hit him several times with the butt of a silver gun. The thief threw the man to the side, jumped in the Range Rover and sped off, with the other suspect following in the Subaru. The victim refused medical attention, Hoppock said. Because of the mask and the …

Alleged Metropark Carjacker Arrested in Trenton

NJ State Police took Bernard McIntyre into custody October 11 on suspicion he carjacked a cab somewhere between Iselin and New Brunswick.

The suspect in an October 2 carjacking of a taxi cab has been arrested. New Jersey State Police nabbed Bernard McIntyre at his home in Trenton early yesterday on a warrant put out by the Edison Police Department, according to Edison Police Sgt. Robert Dudash. The 52-year-old suspect was taken into custody without incident, he said. McIntyre allegedly hailed a cab at the Metropark train station in the Iselin section of Woodbridge last week. But somewhere between the ride between Metropark and the destination in New Brunswick, McIntyre allegedly pulled a gun on the Scooters Cab driver and forced him to drive to Trenton. The 71-year-old cab driver was released unharmed in Trenton, but McIntyre grabbed the cab, the driver's cash, and drove …

Police Release Suspect's Name and Photo in Metropark Carjacking

Edison Police are looking to question Trenton resident Bernard McIntyre in Tuesday's carjacking that started in Woodbridge and ended in Trenton.

The Edison Police Department has released the name and picture of a person of interest in the carjacking of a Woodbridge cab on Tuesday, where the driver was forced at gunpoint to drive to Trenton. Police are looking for Bernard McIntyre, 52, a Trenton resident who has been named as a suspect in the carjacking. A warrant has been issued for McIntyre on charges of carjacking and criminal restraint, said Edison Sgt. Robert J. Dudash, Jr. in a statement. The 71-year-old cab driver, who works for Scooters Taxi Service, picked up a fare at Metropark in the Iselin section of the township approximately 1 pm on October 2. The passenger wanted to be driven to New Brunswick, but once the cab driver arrived, the fare allegedly pulled a gun and …

Metropark Cab Driver Carjacked to Trenton

A driver with Scooters Taxi thought he was taking a $35 fare to New Brunswick. He wound up at gunpoint in Trenton - minus the cab and his cash.

A Woodbridge cab driver got the shock of his life Tuesday when a fare he picked up at Metropark turned into a gun-toting carjacker by the time he reached New Brunswick. The cab driver, who works for Scooters Taxi Service, picked up a man at the Iselin train station around 1 pm who wanted to be driven to New Brunswick, normally a $35 fare. When the cab driver reached New Brunswick, the fare pulled out a gun and told him to start driving to Trenton, said Valerie Finaldi of Scooters. "When they got to New Brunswick, that's when it happened," Finaldi said. "The fare said, 'you'll go where I tell you to go,' and he pulled out a gun." Needless to say, the cab driver had an unnerving 25-mile ride to Trenton down Route 1. When the driver arrived …

Cab driving one the most hazardous jobs for the occasional dollar it pays. I'm glad the driver handled it right and stayed alive. A driver (son of an East Orange mayor) up in Essex got shot dead a few years back in a cabjacking.   more ›

Carjacking in Port Reading Sends Victim to the Hospital

Woodbridge Police believe the victims - one of whom was hit on the head with a hammer - may have known their attackers.

It was a busy day for police in Port Reading Wednesday. As previously reported, a woman walked in on a burglary in her Third Avenue home Wednesday morning, and the suspect was collared a short time later. Wednesday evening, a carjacking took place at the corner of Marian and Spruce Streets in Port Reading. "It appears that it's not a random hijacking," said Woodbridge Police Captain Roy Hoppock.  "There were conflicting stories with the two victims that we're investigating." The victims, a 33-year-old male and a 23-year-old female, were carjacked late Wednesday evening. The male was hit on the head with a hammer by their assailant, wounds that landed him in the hospital. According to Hoppock, it appears the victims may have known their …

Woodbridge is becoming Newark. Keep borrowing equipment from Hess and run to the Reo! We will all be safe, but fat. Then Michelle Obama can tell to "let's move" and McCormick can raise our taxes to borrow more "free" stuff from Hess. A Hollywood script writer couldn't make up this story.   more ›

Woodbridge Cops Stop Perps from a Newark Carjacking

Five suspects were arrested in a Sewaren crash in a car allegedly stolen in a carjacking in Newark.

Five suspects were arrested Sunday in the Sewaren section of Woodbridge after a wild ride and chase that ended in a car crash. Woodbridge police tried to halt a 2001 white Chevrolet Monte Carlo on Rahway Avenue in Woodbridge for what seemed to be minor motor vehicle issues. The car, police said, looked as if it was going to pull over, but suddenly sped away, causing police to engage in a pursuit. The car continued into Port Reading and Sewaren on State Street where it drove into oncoming traffic and crashed into a Honda Civic, police said. All five suspects in the car fled on foot, with police in pursuit. All five were found and detained within minutes, police said. The car, they discovered, had been stolen earlier in Newark during a …
