Buy a Ton of Woodbridge History - Bank Vault Door is for Sale on eBay

The door to the century-old bank vault that stood in the center of the old Chamber of Commerce building is being auctioned off on eBay.

Want to own a ton of Woodbridge history? It's for sale right now on eBay - at least several thousand pounds of it. The bank vault door that sat in the center of former headquarters of the Woodbridge Chamber of Commerce at the corner of Main and Pearl Streets for over a century is being auctioned off on eBay. The starting bid on the door is $999 for the auction that ends on April 23. But if you're in a hurry, you can buy it now for a cool $50 grand.  Just one hitch: it's cash and carry. Bring your own forklift; the seller doesn't offer delivery. A standard bank vault door can weigh as much as 6,000 lbs., according to Security Vault Works, a Maryland firm specializing in bank vault servicing and installation. This door was manufactured by …

The Power's Back On in Woodbridge

Some township residents had no electrical service Monday morning in a local power outage.

Some Woodbridge residents woke up to the lights being off this morning. About 1,300 homeowners experienced a power outage this morning, according to PSE&G. The areas affected included Woodbridge Proper and Sewaren. The problem was an underground cable failure, said PSE&G spokeswoman Annette Hicks. "The power was back on by 10 a.m.," she said. Hicks said that the electric utility wasn't sure what caused the power failure, but that the cause is still under investigation.   Follow Woodbridge Patch on Facebook, Twitter and sign up for the daily newsletter.
