Woodbridge Gets Good News on B&N

The Menlo Park Barnes & Noble just resigned their lease for another five years.

It's going to be good news for Woodbridge and area residents. Barnes & Noble will not be closing its Menlo Park Mall store. The Woodbridge Patch story that the bookstore chain will be closing at least 20 stores a year over the next ten years generated a response from the corporation. "We extended the lease on our Menlo Park store through 2018," said B&N spokeswoman Mary Ellen Keating. "We are not closing and plan to serve the community for many years to come." It was a welcome relief for Woodbridge bookreaders. Since Borders closed its last store in Woodbridge Center in 2011, the township with almost 100,000 hasn't had a new bookstore to serve its devoted readers. The Menlo Park Mall B&N store has been the closest book lovers could go to …

I've patronized this store for many years and am happy to hear it will still be around. Be aware that also within an easy drive we have one of the best used bookstores in the universe with the 'Cranbury Bookworm' in downtown Cranbury . I went there with my dad for the first time a half a century ago and and continue to go there regularly.   more ›

TELL US: Should Menlo Park's Barnes & Noble Stay Open?

Barnes & Noble announced they're going to be shutting unprofitable stores. Will the only bookstore close to Woodbridge be on that list?

In the age of Amazon and ebooks, it was bound to happen. The bookseller "is fully committed to the retail concept for the long term,” retail store CEO Mitchell Klipper was quoted in Publishers Weekly. A B&N spokesman told Clark Patch that the Clark Barnes & Noble store - an important store in that township - reassured book …

Barnes & Noble Book Fair Starts Today

This the third annual fundraiser at Menlo Park Mall that benefits all schools in the Woodbridge school district.

It's the third annual Barnes & Noble Book Fair, the event that raises money and immerses Woodbridge school kids, their teachers, and parents in books. This year, it's better than ever. The event takes place at the B&N in Menlo Park Mall in Edison and runs from Friday, June 15 through Wednesday, June 20. All book lovers have to do is make a purchase and use the book voucher or number (in this case, ID #10779346) so that the district gets the credit for the purchase. The voucher can be found here for those who'd like to print it out. Books and other items can also be purchased online and the district will still get credit.  At the B&N store, there will be a host of events taking place throughout the fair, including giveaways and prizes. …
