Woodbridge Police Department

Once in its own separate building behind where the historic Town Hall stood, the Woodbridge Police Department is nowMore in the basement of the new building.

The township's police department is federally accredited. There are over 200 officers on the force.

The department offers a number of services, like burglar alarm registration and a Junior Police Academy.

The police department can be reached on either side of the main staircase of the municipal building.

Woodbridge Fire Department

Founded in 1897, the Woodbridge Fire Department has gone through a building or two - the last built in 1969 - but theMore fire company has pretty much spent its existence on School St., right across from the Board of Education building. A combination of professional and volunteer firefighters, the WFD responds to approximately 800 calls a year throughout the township. Five full time fire inspectors are employed.

A statue of a fireman holding a firehose is near by firehouse. The fireman, a memorial, is set on a pedestal on a bit of land at the intersection of School St. and East Park Ave. The statue is well known throughout the township. It was erected in the memory of the "departed firemen" of Woodbridge and Sewaren.

Woodbridge Developmental Center

Operated by the state's Department of Human Services, the Woodbridge Developmental Center is a residential care facilityMore for people with developmental disabilities. Located on 68 acres, the center's campus is comprised of 25 buildings, including a health services center and 18 residential cottages. The campus also features a restaurant for residents and staff, a recreation and entertainment center and meeting rooms. Residents receive comprehensive heath and social services, including psychological, occupational, physical, psychiatric, speed and dietary therapies as needed
Woodbridge Township Municipal Offices

The offices of the various departments of Woodbridge Township are centrally located in the municipal building on MainMore Street. The new complex was erected in the 1990s, after the original historic building -- dedicated as a war memorial building and built with bricks fashioned in the town's brickworks -- was knocked down.

The municipal court is held here, as are the town's council meetings. The police department, which had been located behind the old town hall building, was incorporated into the new structure's basement.

John McCormac serves as mayor.
