Begun in 2001, the Prodigal Foundation is engaged in trying to alleviate the effects of cancer on the lives of…More children in Middlesex County. The foundation does this by fundraising during the year, and presenting scholarships to high school seniors going on to college.
The scholarship recipients enter an essay contest in which they describe how cancer — whether it's their own illness or that of a family member — has had a huge impact on their lives. The scholarships are awarded at an annual banquet, held in Woodbridge.
The Prodigal Foundation also runs a "Dreams Do Come True" program, where eligible children have small wishes granted during the course of the year.
George Yuhasz serves as the foundation's president.
