Ottaviano Pardee of the Port Reading section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at JFK Hartwyck at Edison Estates Nursing Center. She was 86 years old. She was born in, and a lifelong resident of, the Port Reading section of Woodbridge Township. Mrs. Pardee was employed as a seamstress at Schott Brothers in Perth Amboy for many years. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Port Reading. Mrs. Pardee was predeceased by her husband, Vincent J. Pardee, in 2001. Funeral services will be held today for Teneta, who died in an accident on Route 1 on April 20.
Andrew I. Teneta, 25, of Avenel, lost his life in a tragic car accident on April 20, 2013, in Woodbridge. By trade he was an auto mechanic but most recently he worked at Everlast Transport in Edison as a warehouse laborer. Andrew’s passion for life was his car and his many friends and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Surviving are his father, Stanley Teneta of Lebanon; his mother, Grace Kaleta of Avenel; a brother Joseph Pietrangelo, Jr.; a sister, Nicole Marie Teneta; a nephew and many cousins. Funeral services will be held, at 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 25, 2013. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin. Helen E. Gow died on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at her home in the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township. Born in New York City on September 18, 1934 to the late Thomas A. and Alice Dunne, Helen was adopted and raised in Jersey City by the late William and Helen Ochs, and moved to Colonia in 1967. She was employed as a secretary with International Nickle Company in New York City for ten years until 1963. During the 1970s and 1980s Helen had volunteered at the JFK Medical Center Emergency Room and with Haven Hospice, but after hip surgeries was no longer physically able to perform those duties. Helen was an ardent supporter of animal rescue groups and during her marriage had nine dogs, including her surviving dog, Honey. In addition to her …

Helen L. Anness passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 on her 82nd birthday at her home in Monroe Township. Born in Woodbridge, Helen was married to her longtime sweetheart Charles Anness for 62 years. Helen and Charles resided and raised their family in Woodbridge before moving to Bradenton, FL then moving to Monroe Township 10 years ago. Mrs. Anness was employed as an executive secretary at Midlantic Bank in Edison for many years before retiring in 1992. She was a 50-year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge; and past president of the White Church Guild. Helen is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles F. Longtime Republican activist Jane Girard passed away on Thursday, January 31.
Jane Girard, a local activist and official at Republican gatherings in Woodbridge died at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy on Thursday, January 31, at the age of 90. Born in Paterson, she resided in the Fords section of Woodbridge since 1965. She was employed as a secretary for Pathmark in Woodbridge for 20 years. Jane was a member of the United Methodist Church of Woodbridge, the Woodbridge Republican Organization, and Woodbridge River Watch, and served on the board of directors of Kiddie Keep Well Camp in Edison. Bishop Edward Thomas Hughes, who led the Metuchen Diocese for a decade, passed away on Christmas Day at the age of 92.
The wake for Bishop Edward Thomas Hughes, who passed away on Chritmas Day and who served as Bishop for the Diocese of Metuchen for 10 years, has been set for Thursday, January 3. The wake and mass, which will be presided over by current Bishop Paul Gregory Bootkoski, will take place at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Metuchen with a public visitation at 2 pm. A Mass of Commemoration will also take place on Thursday at 7:30 pm. with the funeral to held on Friday. Cardinal Theodore E. Ernest L. Oros, 88, of Fords, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Known to friends and family as 'Ernie,' Oros was born in Phillipsburg and had lived in Woodbridge Township for the last 66 years. He was a World War II veteran, serving as a corporal in the Marine Corp where his principal duty was a Rifle Marksman Instructor. Oros was a purchasing agent with Molnar Electric in Woodbridge and Lightning Electric in Springfield before retiring in 1988. He served as a Councilman-at-Large for Woodbridge Township for two terms and was also a 19th Legislative District Assemblyman from 1992 through 1996. Meszaros was the beloved "Steve the Scorekeeper" who served for years for the baseball team of the Woodbridge Recreation Department.
Stephen L. Meszaros, 90, of Avenel, passed away on Friday, June 22, at Marian Manor Health Care Center in Stafford, Virginia. Born in Perth Amboy, he was a lifetime resident of Avenel and was a Communicant of St. Andrew’s R.C. Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Avenel. He was also a member of the Avenel-Colonia First Aid Squad. Mr. Meszaros was a United States Navy Veteran serving in World War II. His heroic efforts during his service to his country allowed his fellow servicemen to safely reach the beaches with limited casualties.
