Edison Cop Accused of Firebombing Veteran Officer's Home

Michael Dotro was arrested in connection with the blaze set on Monday.

An Edison Police Officer has been charged with five counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated arson in connection with a fire at the Monroe home of a veteran police officer set on Monday. Michael Dotro, 32, was arrested at his home in Manalapan, Acting Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Monroe Township Police Chief Michael E. Lloyd announced Thursday night. He was charged in connection with a fire set at the home of Edison Police Capt. Mark Anderko and his family, reported to Monroe Township Police at 3:59 a.m. Although the fire was extinguished within 10 to 15 minutes by the Monroe Township Fire Department, the two-story Colonial-style home suffered extensive damage. Port Reading Trainer Accused of Distributing 89,000 Units of Steroids

Richard Gray, 60, was charged Wednesday with conspiracy to distribute anabolic steroids.

A Port Reading man who works as a personal trainer was arrested Wednesday for allegedly conspiring to distribute more than 89,000 units of anabolic steroids, according to U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman’s office. Richard Gray, 60, was charged by complaint with conspiracy to distribute anabolic steroids in both pill and liquid forms, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. Due to information in the complaint, agents of Customs and Border Protection discovered a package shipped from China to a consignment store in Edison, which contained more than 110 ampules several different types of anabolic steroids. Some of the steroids included, Mastabol, Testosterone, Boldenone, Undecylenate and Nandrolone. Employees of the Edison location identified Gray as the …

Obama and Christie to Visit Jersey Shore on Tuesday

This will be Obama's first visit to Shore since just after Sandy.

President Obama and Gov. Christie will visit the Jersey Shore on Tuesday, according to The Record in Bergen County. This will be Obama's first visit to the area since Oct. 31, just after the storm struck. A full itinerary of the visit was not available. More information can be found here.

Man Dies After Car Pushes Him Through Avenel Motel Window

A 62-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

A 62-year-old man was pronounced dead after he was struck by a vehicle that pushed him through the window of an Avenel Motel on Wednesday around 3:55 p.m., police said. Edward Domenicucci was standing outside of his motel room at the City Motel on Route 1 in Avenel when Allen Szyrwiel, 62, of Port Reading, pulled into the motel parking lot, struck the victim and continued to drive, pushing him through the window of his room, according to Woodbridge Police Capt. Roy Hoppock. “It didn’t appear to be malicious or deliberate,” Hoppock said. Szyrwiel was not traveling at high rate of speed, Hoppock added, but for whatever reason he failed to stop the vehicle. Skyline Mini-Golf Officially Opens for Summer

The grand opening was held on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Skyline Mini Golf, Woodbridge’s most recent addition for entertainment opportunities, is back for a second season after the grand opening on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Mayor John McCormac joined Middlesex County businesses and Mayors from South Plainfield, Perth Amboy, South Amboy and Carteret to celebrate the Summer 2013 opening of the course. Skyline was named for the view of New York City in the distance from the course. The 18- hole miniature golf course was completed in 2012 using $428,000 of previously unused bond money. Robbers Tied Up T-Mobile Employees, Stole Cell Phones, US Attorney Says

Four men charged in alleged incidents at stores in Woodbridge and Linden.

A fourth man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the armed robberies of cell phone thefts from T-Mobile stores in Linden and Woodbridge, according to U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman’s office.  Leonard Arlington, 27, of Roslyn Heights, N.Y., was arrested near his home charged with one count of conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robberies, one count of committing a Hobbs Act robbery and one count of using a firearm during a crime of violence. Carl Williams, 29, and Eric Williams, 32, of Brooklyn, N.Y., were also charged with the same offenses. The two men are not related. Woodbridge, JFK Baseball Teams Advance in State Tournament

Both Woodbridge and JFK will move on to the next round of the tournament.

Woodbridge defeated Somerville during the first round of the NJSIAA Baseball Tournament, while JFK defeated Newark East moving both teams onto the second round of the tournament. Woodbridge, who is part of the Central Jersey Group 3, won 3-1 on Monday and will match up against Lawrence on Friday. According to NJ.com, Jesse Lammers went 2-for-3 with a home run, double and two RBI. Also, Woodbridge’s Nick Bradshaw allowed a run on six hits, seven strikeouts and five walks in seven innings. JFK beat out Newark East 7-1 in the North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 on Tuesday and will face Roxbury Friday.
