Alvin Williams Memorial Park

Named after a Woodbridge police officer who died in the line of duty, Williams Park is an amazing place. Situated on a manmade peninsula in Sewaren, it's a protected wetlands lush with vegetation and wildlife.

It's also next door to a co-generation plant. In fact, the only way to get into Williams Park is down a road that serves PSE&G's facility. But if you turn your head to the right, you'll see seagulls landing on the beach, a huge pavillion with benches, a concrete outdoor open air theatre, and the Outerbridge in the background.

This county-run park are playgrounds, a softball field, and a jogging path that runs around the perimeter of the peninsula, which lies on the Arthur Kill, across from Staten Island. Seagulls frequently use the large fields as a staging area, and you need to drive slowly when they decide it's time to take a walk across the road.

One of the most scenic areas of the township, Williams Park is a hidden gem because of its remote location.
